I think it's quite amusing that a dog bred for pikey betting dog fights comes off worse in a scrap with a placid annimal, and I've just boned Cameron Diaz.

Dog specifice legislation is retarded in the extreme. Not least because in the case of so called 'pit bulls' they don't exist as a breed. It's total bullsh1t- ban all dogs or control owners is the actual answer. Of course this isn't politically expedient.......

This one has been doing the rounds for a while....
Pit Bull vs. Porcupine (Photos) - Netlore Archive
They would have had to anaesthetise the animal and remove the quills one by one... with pliers probably. They have a scaly surface that works like microscopic barbs allowing the point to penetrate much easier than withdraw, hence the quills are left in the dog and pulled out of the porcupine.
It looks bad but is rarely worse than superficial trauma to the skin. In the case above my main concerns would have been the eyes and controlling infection.
