Lcd tv calibration
A mate at work said he was thinking of having this done to his sony bravia.
Has anyone on here had this done. I have looked on the av forum and there are few companies offering the sevice but i just wondered if anyone has tried it and does it make a big difference?

Not sure if it's what is required, but most Disney DVD's come with a calibration tool on them, Monsters Inc, and Pirates of the Carib' defo have them.
Just a thought depending on what is trying to be achieved.

They make a MASSIVE difference if your big on picture quality. You'll never get the best from a Plasma or LCD without calibration....
Should cost you about £150 for an engineer to come out on site to do it for you...
You can get the DVD's and try it yourself IIRC but not sure where from.

Had a look at that site Convergent AV - Audio / Visual / Consultancy - Calibration and it seems a bit iffy to me. It is probably setting up the user accessible 'custom' preset basic levels as they mention nothing about getting the back off and tweaking individual colour components etc? There are also a lot fewer things to tweak on a cold running solid state, digitsl based device compared to [still superior!] old fangled CRT's. Maybe they get into extended software menus or something? Would love to be able to access those and have a go myself.

Saw a lovely looking Samsung 37" LCD at a friends house yesterday. Was awful on the basics on analogue and digital signals - mushy and laggy with digital artifacts everywhere [even on an analogue input]. Dont believe the hype! Looked so sexy though
