Objecting to planning?
What defences or arguments could you use to object to a massive 2,500 house development being built on your doorstep? Obviously view etc. doesn't cut it, but what does?

Lack of sufficient services to cope with the extra population such as schooling, dentists, doctors etc. Does the new development incorporate new services such as these? Schooling will be one of the most important factors especially if there is a shortage of places at exisitng schools in the area.

Apparently a new primary school is going to be built, ahem, proposed to be built. No mention of doctors or dentists. It seems like a foregone conclusion. This has been bubbling for a couple of years now. I feel sick it's going to happen

They are building a new road which is not dual carriageway and has a 40mph limit
But for 2,500 houses! That's mad!

It's quite hard these days to get a stop to development. Even with hundreds of objectors they can still push it through.

I am not a NIMBY, this is just ridiculous!
Only one plus is that with all these overpriced new builds going up, my house may actually go up in value!

traffic levels unsuatable for area (developer will be told to sort them but can end up being cost prohibative), green field site (thats a good one if you can get some of the green bods involved), lack of schools for extra kids, not enough doctors, dentist etc etc

Nothing helped my parents The home sec over rulled the planning board who turned it down. Now my parents have 2, 3 story houses overlooking them and a beautifull view of the estates gates out of the living room window.
The house is now going to be a bugger to sell.
The biggest bain you can do is insist on the building site keep all the roads clean etc and complain ever time they break the conditions of building.

First of all stop splitting up with your partner and stop desiring new build houses and broken family units. That way we won't need to build any more houses
On the basis we do though I suggest you dig out your local plan and check what the land site subject of the application is allocated for. I'd be VERY surprised if a development of that scale is speculative in which case the council will have made it clear in the development plan (I think you english have different names for your plans now) that they veiw this as an area to accomodate housing growth. They have no choice but to do this - they are required to establish a 5 year land supply to accomodate growth. If the land is allocated for housing you are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar to late to argue on the principle of housing. In that case you should look at the specifics such as layout, design, etc, etc. As for effects on services your local council will almost certainly factored that in and will secure a package of planning gain to provide for these things. That might involve the developer actually building a school, etc or may involve payment of a commuted sum per house built so the Council so that they can provide them - either way it won't be overlooked and little timmy can still go to school and the doctors
Sucks, but they have to go somewhere until we re-establish the family unit and decrease birth rate or increase death rate to reduce the requirement to expand our housing stock.

Har har very funny not.
Sorry but the govt and kendrick homes really have pi55ed everyone off with these.
My only consolation is that they sunk, yes sunk 2, 20 ton earth movers cos their building on peat. They causes so much damage to the cats, that the hire company refused to hire to them again!
That and when I went home last time, they had water within the foundation walls under what will be the first floor.

Unfortunately what Nate says is almost certainly right, and if you did get it stopped, Two ****'s office will overrule it anyway. We have few actual rights left anymore now. Except the vote-for the time beimg anyway!
