Our current plans for xmas eve have fallen through - I still think it will be more than my lifes worth to suggest C/S though 
Neighbours will have gone away so may just stick a dvd on and test my new speakers (If I'm allowed to have them a day early)

not look like i gonna b there
pc still crashing / hanging and rebooting itself when i just tried to goto locked server.
have run some VIA updates.
gotta try some more BIOS stuff etc.......

cant believe i did not know about this.
would never never have even considered a AMD [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

steve you running at least a 300w power supply?
run motherboard diagnostics in wondows and see what temo the CPU is running at.
could be dodgy RAM.
try changing the processor speed down by about 20% and see if that makes any difference.
try www.amdmb.com for answers.

Thats the only reason I haven't gone down the AMD route, compatability 
The only way I'd get one is if I brought a whole package that was guaranteed to work. Either that or a whole new base unit but that feels like throwing away ££££

what OS are you running?
What motherboard is it?
I built an Amd system for a friend of mine. I knew about the problems with it and it runs 100% stable now (after 7 rebuilds). I will try and give you as much help as possible.
My friends pc has an original SB Live card in, all I can say is don't use the LiveWare drivers, I installed it with Win2k Pro, which has standard drivers for the SB Live. Without the Liveware drivers you just miss the rear surround output.

had problems with my SB audigy when I first installed it.
Was your PC upgraded or did it have a fresh rebuild with the new hardware. All my probs disappearde with the last rebuild and fresh drivers and win2K
