Default A new plasma/lcd question

Not about buying one, I've already got one.

But realistically what are the prices that these could fall to?

We will see 42" Panasonics for £299 by the end of the year?

Well now they've stopped making CRTs I suspect something will need to plug the lower end of the price bracket.

Not a chance on the Panasonic for £300. Maybe a cheaper brand but I very much doubt it.

You still get what you pay for and Panasonic along with Pioneer will be nowhere near as cheap as the others in the long run IMO.

Off course I could be happily proved wrong. 55" Bravia on sale in Makros as of tomorrow for £999. Now thats not a bad bargain even if I dont rate the Sony stuff.

Well, to be honest you'd be a fool to pay more than £799 for a 42" now - the best rated sets can be found for that price, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Panasonic etc. Perhaps not their latest model with 1080P and 4 x HDMI etc but these are appearing at approx £1000-1200 anyway. I think £599/£499 is very likely in the next few months so it wouldn't surprise me if they dropped further.

Richer Sounds have 50" HD Vieras for £999.

I keep putting it off, and every few months the prices just seam to drop that little bit more.

if the batterd old 32" crt blew up today i would buy one asap.

but going out and getting one just because i want one never seams like "the right time"
