Caught a thread on Pistonheads regarding a potentially new property tax, although now imposed in Northern Ireland from what I can glean.

But do a search for "property tax 0.633" and you'll find some more info with the same/similar info.

What I don't understand, is because a property has some unrealised potential wealth in it, you have to pay more to never really realise any of that wealth. s this just a scheme to milk money from the majority of people that don't have that sort of extra disposable income, i.e. ~100 pounds a month?

Anybody got any more info or insights into this random piece of legislation? I realise the page above has a particular conservative spin, but from what I've read, it looks that this tax, if it were introduced, would be on top of council tax, which has me puzzled.
