It went bonkers ages ago... Problem is not matter how many daft examples are cited in newspapers it just keeps on getting worse and worse.

I don't see it stopping soon. That article is just sad reading, not unbelievable, just really truly sad of what sort of a country we live in now

"Last week, it emerged that a school banned knotted ties because it said they were a safety risk. Pupils at Bramhall High in Stockport were told to wear clipons instead or be sent home."

They can and probably will (or at least blow it out of all proportion), if it's been reported in The Daily Mail!

I guess The Daily Mail are blaming this on the Muslims, Asylum Seekers, Hooded yobs, knife carrying London teenagers, or Labour!

I think you will find that 'technically' pretty much all corporates have had this policy for many years. It is not politcal correctness it is insurance liability.

Pretty much every corporate I have worked for has had people employed to move stuff and as such they are liable for moving it safely.

This is nothing to do with the H&S, Blair or NL - this type of restriction has been around a lot longer.

In reality most people are pragmatic about the whole thing. If you are moving stuff your claim could be compromised of course.
