Does God exist?

Does God exist?
I saw these milestones in a book I'm reading " THE GOD DELUSION" by Richard Dawkins. Given the religious discussions here from time to time I though it relevant.
According to your beliefs, what is the probability that God exists?
1. Strong theist. 100 per cent probability of God.
"I do not believe, I know".
2. Very high probability, but short of 100 per cent. De facto theist.
"I cannot know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there".
3. Higher than 50 percent, but not very high. Technically agnostic, but leaning towards theism
"I am very uncertain, but inclined to believe in God"
4. Exactly 50 per cent. Completely impartial agnostic.
"God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable"
5. Lower then 50 per cent, but not very low. Technically agnostic, but leaning towards atheism,
"I don't know whether God exists, but I'm inclined to be sceptical"
6. Very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist.
"I cannot know for certain, but I think God is very improbable and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there"
7. Strong atheist
"I know there is no God"
I score between 5 and 6, but am inclined towards 6 which makes me a de facto atheist and not an agnostic after all.

God cannot exist and there is a simple proof.
God exists
Existence is empirical
Empiricism negates faith
God is faith (basis of all religions except the Scientologists who are bonkers)
Therefore as there is no faith there is no God - QED!

I believe in a higher being beyond man's comprehension.
I also beleive that none of the organised religons of the world are even close to understanding what he/she/it is, it would be like asking an ant to comprehend human affairs.

Taking that thought one could argue that it is rather arrogant of us humans to think the entire universe only operates in the 3 basic dimensions.
Even adding a couple of dimensions is beyond our understanding so add a few hundred and even Steven Hawkin would be scratching his head (if he could, poor chap).
So just may be an "entity/god/whatever" might be there.
FWIW I believe there is. dl

Define God and divinity?
I kind of consider myself Pagan, and technically I guess I'm Pantheist; which complicates things
But as far as a abrahamic theists definition of God goes - I think they're on smack.

God or gods (until the Israelites defined a one supieror god) were what mankind from the stone age invented to describe the world around them. I think we are a bit more advanced than we were 10-20 thousand years ago and should recognise the universe for what it is, godless and driven by laws of physics.
I guess the idea still survives because no-one wants to die and thats the end of it, a lot of people would like to think that if they waste their time on earth then they will get another shot at it. My belief is that this is it, enjoy it or its gone.

I hope not; I'd be saddened if as many as 9% of people truely believed...
As stated above, god(s) was (were) developed to answer the questions early man could not. Moving on, the main purpose was social control etc.

Interesting that so many people have voted for option 7 "0 percent probability", which is itself not a rational position to take.
Suresh - if you enjoy The God Delusion, both "The End of Faith" and "Letter to a Christian Nation" by Sam Harris are worth reading, and he writes better than Dawkins IMO.
Gary.

So a question for the 66%
So the mind boggling beauty and complexity of nature, for example, just turned up by coincidence or are we just programmed to think that nature is "nice"?

by coincidence, yeah right.. you take certtain conditions.. you take a pinch of this a sprinkle of that.. god really MUST have worked his nagdgers of for those six days, no wonder the poor soul needed a rest on the seventh

If God created the earth that makes him a builder. So, he may have done it in 6 days, but that also means that someone must have been there to make him a cup of tea with 6 sugars every hour.

Believers will always have the last laugh as if there is a heaven they will be there and the unbeliever wont, but if there isn't then neither will know any different.
