How Green are Environmentalists?
The new wonder fuel for cars "bio fuel" is promoted as being green, as it comes from a renewable source, i.e. crops.
Therefore being pushed heavily by the “Green” lobby.
However there is a slight problem in that to grow these crops in sufficient quantity huge areas of rainforests will have to be felled and replanted.
Not only will this decimate huge areas of rainforest but will also lead to the extinction of hundreds of species of plants and animals who live there.
The Daily Mail, has report here

Good-bye Mr orang-utan.
All I want to know is how many jobs, freebies and junkets have been created/held in the name of being green?

I don't know about being Green, but where can all the geeks too geeky for the Liberal Party hang out.
I think the Green Party are the "Revenge of the Nerds" and anyway they do shop a lot at Oxfam.

Don't bio fuels create more Co2 to produce, from the plants, farm machinary etc. And correct me if i'm wrong won't they still produce it out the exhaust pipe?
Thus making them worse.
When are we going to cut back on water vapor, the biggest greenhouse gas??????????
Although environmentalists don't wash so i guess they are doing their bit!!

i did read that al gore's home has an emissions footprint 30 times the american average and that he's "working hard to reduce it".
admittedly, it's a big house.
he's a persuasive - and as it turns out - a charismatic guy too. it might help his stance if he made more use of videoconference appearances and less of non-stop globe-trotting by business class.
the trouble is, climate science is now absolutely, utterly and hysterically politicised and that stifles the core ethics of the neutral, self-critical scientific objectivity we need.

Savour this moment. Daily Mail and Guardian seem to agree on something!!
Guardian Unlimited | Comment is free | George Monbiot: If we want to save the planet, we need a five-year freeze on biofuels
