wedding gifts lists
anyone ever asked for money rather than actual presents.
how did you ask for money? it doesnt seem natural to us and we cant think of a sublte or humorous way of asking
we have been living together for a while now and have got all the crockery caserole dishes and towels that we need.
cheers
colin

Just say, that although gifts would be lovely, you feel you don't want people buying you something you may already have and a money voucher may be more useful IF they wish to get a gift atall. People will understand and I guess people would prefer to give money anyway, saves trapseing round thinking what to buy

Alright mate,
Me and the Mrs have done just that, we get married in 10 weeks and are in the same situation as you, we have everything we need after living together for 2 years!!
We asked for money or vouchers,
think we put something like,
'it would appreciated if gifts for the happy couple could come in the form of money or vouchers'
Something like that,
Ben

Me and the wife told everyone we had all the silly little things and would preffer cash to put towards a new kitchen if that was o.k.
We ended up with a kitchen , W.C , front door and stair carpet .
Be honest with them it worked for me .

We went to Auz and a few other places for the honeymoon andmade a list of places we wanted to visit while out there and things we wanted to do. We then assigned a monetary value to these so that if people wanted to say they bought us something with there money they could give cash saying use this to pay for x while you are away. It worked especially well for the older generations that did not feel it was right to just hand over cash and not be able to tell all at the WI what they had got us.

I've been to weddings wher the gift has been listed as gift vouchers for B & Q etc, don't see a problem with it, especially as most blokes especially can't be arsed to go shopping!

We did it last year as we had been living together for about 3 years and didnt need a new toaster, ahd plenty of towels and would probably never use the ice cream maker. We were just honest and put something like "if you were thinking of giving a gift then the happy couple would appriciate money to go towards their honeymoon as they already set up home."
Only trouble is we then went to the maldives and it such a fantastic place we now dont want to go anywhere else, and have booked up to go again this year!

I couldnt stomach it, it just seems so mercenary but people insisted we do one so I did it in humourous way,
Wicker Washing Basket, one that empties itself and the clothes turn up back in the wardrobe 2 days later washed and ironed, my mum as one, ask her where she got it.
BMW M3 (Worth a try I suuppose)
Set of Pans, not sure how they will fit in the Microwave ?
Bathroom Cabinet, 3000 sq ft, to accomodate her hair and skin products, lest they spill into the next county.
Crystal Glassware, not sure why we need twenty Sherry glasses, I suppose they may come in handy if a bus full of thirsty alcoholic pensioners breaks down outside our house, see below for full list.
