Question What Can £1 Buy These Days?
Strange as it may seem, it buys a LOT more than it did 30 years ago

Heh, you'll probably find that changing channels opens next doors garage door and sets off three car alarms

On the other hand, you could get a pack of about 20 AA / AAA batteries for a quid - ideal for the kids toys. They don't last as long as Duracells, so again, ideal for kids toys

You can get a really nice ice cream cone with local ice cream down here. I can still remember when you could get one of those for 4d though.

£1 buys me about 1/4 gallon of fuel for the car, (or just over a litre).

When I started driving, fuel was 4s/11d a GALLON, (about 25p )

So let's not all get carried away..............
