Default Turbo - push in the back sensation.

Why do people say this?

"I wish I'd kept the turbo, I miss the push in the back feeling"
"you get a classy interior and a push in the back feel of turbo boost" (Not a scooby quote obviously!!)

I've had a couple of turbo cars and have never felt a turbo car "push me in the back" feeling.
Pushed back in seat - yes, pushed in back - no.

Have seen a couple today and just wanted to vent

Technically they are right and you are wrong: as the car accelerates the seat pushes forward against the inertia of you. The human body sometimes perceives this as the body pushing into the seat, but that's not what is happening - actually the seat is pushing into you.

Its the step in torque delivery, nothing, nothing, bang, thats why some fairly modest turbo cars can feel quicker than some more powerful N/A machinery, in Autocar this week they was a guy moaning that he was a bit underwhelmed by an Audi S4 after his Octavia RS. My dad reckons my Saab 9-3 LPT, 150 bhp feels a fair bit quicker than his 190 bhp MG ZT, on paper they have similar figures.

have a go in a powerfull turbo RWD car like a 300ZX or supra, they feel like they push you down the road, where as FWD and 4WD seem to pull you imo.
