Yes, I know where this happened extremely well and the bridge is quite fun to go over at speed. Obviously he was driving a bit too fast

Alex, 17, who suffered two broken legs in the crash, told the inquest he had also been a passenger in Mr Scrivener's car on past occasions, when he had driven at speeds of about 150mph. But the teenager added that he had always felt safe.

I can't imagine what bridge that is..Do they mean the road between the bramptons and the A428?

It's not the kind of bridge you would think it is if thats the case. It's certainly not a good road to be speeding on though my car never feels settled down there.

Yes, it is the railway bridge by the row of terraced houses before you get to Church Brampton (I think, I always get it mixed up with Chapel...)

It is a nasty humped back bridge, but can easily be driven over at the speed limit without any problems. Obviously it is safe at 60, but not so at any greater speeds.

Quite what the driver was thinking off is beyond me. However at the same time exceeding the limits of our ability can affect any of us at any time.

The japanese street racing code is quite clear.

1/ Only race when its safe to do so,

2/ Only endanger your own life.

When is it EVER safe to race on the streets? It's not even "safe" to race on circuits, let alone the public highway

When is it EVER possible to ONLY endanger your own life? Certainly not on the public highway. Perhaps if you are the only car on a circuit, although even then there are usually marshals and others around you could kill

If you have access to secure private land then that's OK

Of course, "safe" is entirely subjective, but its safe to assume its going to be "safer" on a dry motorway at 2am that its going to be launching your car off a hump back bridge in the middle of the day.

Same as the chances of endangering your own life will be dramatically improved if you have no passengers in the car!

When will people realise that a 4 wheel drive system cannot alter the law of physics? Very sad. I remember when I bought my first scoob, the dealer sold it to me as 'sticking to the road no matter what'. Idiot.

Ok, its natrual for kids to want a go in your car, what you do is blast it from a standstill to the speed limit, maybe a bit more if its safe, clear and dry, give them a taste of the performance, going beyond that is a recipe for disaster.

Kids will enjoy the thrill but there is no need to scare them to make a point.

shame but what is this bit about?

The accident happened on a weekend dubbed the worst a senior Northamptonshire traffic officer had seen on the county's roads, in which four other people also died.
"the worst a senior Northamptonshire traffic officer had seen on the county's roads, in which four other people also died." not exsactly a snappy name for a weekend is it?

"The performance of the vehicle seems to have exceeded the skills of the driver."

- Oh dear.

Somes up performance cars and idiot drivers,

Fair play to him for wanting to give the kids a good ride, but obviously its not best practice to go air born at 100mph near the twisties.

As J4CKO says, if I didnt actually own my STi, I would of killed to go in one(Im only 19 myself), and been extremly happy just doing the blast from standing starts. Much better than fearing for your life round the country lanes!

Sorry that is has ended up in this tragedy fashion
