Top Tory quits over Army race row
Shame that once again the PC brigade find it necessary to attack someone who happens to tell it like it is.

plus ca change. however, the real story here, whether one agrees with mercer or not ... is that a politician actually resigned quickly, voluntarily and took responsibility for his actions.
how quaint! i thought new labour had banned political accountability.

Seems all he did was to tell of his experiences when he was in the army. Nowt racist or anything else'ist' about that ..... Shame Cameron had to jump on the PC bandwagon rather than telling everybody complaining to look in the mirror first .....

Born in 1956, Patrick is the son of a clergyman whose last job in the Church was as Bishop of Exeter. However, Patrick’s connections with Newark spring from his father who trained at Kelham Theological College near Newark and his mother who comes from Lincolnshire. Unusually, Patrick’s Parents’ romance started in the grounds of Kelham – but enough of that!
Patrick now lives slightly outside the town of Newark with his horse faced wife Cait and his son Rupert the bear. A recent edition to the family has been the puppy, Hector.

The Spanish word negro originates from the Latin word niger, meaning black. In English, negro or neger became negar and finally ******, most likely under influence of French nègre (also derived from the Latin niger).
The word honky as a term for whites derives from bohunk and hunky. In the early 1900's, these were derogatory terms for Bohemian, Hungarian, and Polish immigrants. According to Robert Hendrickson, author of the Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins, Black workers in Chicago meat-packing plants picked up the term from white workers and began applying it indiscriminately to all Caucasians.

Rubbish. That award is reserved for the English word also known as "See You Next Tuesday".

Comes to something when a man who has been decorated for his achievements in the military gets the push because he was telling the truth. He was highly respected by the black people who served under him as well and they supported him competely. The statement was not racist as was clear. I gather that the turqoise chameleon waited to see what public reaction might be to the usual tabloid over reaction before he decided to sack the man. Have we reached the Orwellian situation where we can no longer say the truth in public? Yet another storm in a teacup!

Was in California a few years ago staying with a Mexican work colleague, and her sons best mate was black, he refered to him as ****** and the black guy didn't give a toss, I said we can't say that in England as it is racist and they replied, it is the way it sounds with our accent.
We when I was in the army we had some seriously large black gentlemen that were refered to as black b'stard, and as matey said you could be a black b'stard, white b'stard, fat b'stard, lazy b'stard, useless b'stard, ginger b'stard, stab b'stard etc etc etc. it didn't mean anything it was a term of motivation that everybody used. The UK seriously needs to rethink the whole PC thing and learn something called CONTEXT.
Plus our RSM was a big black b'stard!!! BOB for short
I would love to meet the person that tells thousands of squaddies that the need to be nice to each other from now on!
