Two things that obviously do not exist anymore.

What hope is there for any society when it's leaders, instututions, role-models and celebrities are liars and swindlers.

-Labor and their lies over Iraq, peerages and just about everything else.
-Banks ripping off customers illegally whenever they think they can get away with it.
-TV stations cheating and ripping off customers on game shows and premium rate numbers.

Is there anybody in this country with a shred of decency left who isn't out to screw everyone else and make money as fast as they can?

It is just the same whenever the benefit of morally upstanding behaviour is mentioned Kiwi. You get shouted down because it is an old fashioned idea and there is no time for that in these modern times!

I think that's a slightly naive view to take, the Govt has always been the same, it's just reported better in recent times. At least they bothered to lie about Iraq, rather than a Zimbabwe style "we must take over the black man, it is our right because he is too dirty and stupid to have his own country, what!"

YUP, must agree, when the country and whole establishment uses lies and deception to get its way, it certainly has a knock on effect on society...

I find that MOST people are dishonest these days, whereas in the pat I thought people were generally decent...

Just watch how people behave in supermarkets and carparks to see just how far society has slipped....

There are plenty, trouble is they are a silent *unspectacular* group abandoned by the media, who generally get on with life, paying for much of the others short comings along the way
