Worth it? You think he listens to these?

If it gets to two million signatures, you all get an email explaining how you've misunderstood.

You dont make any sense. If there is a speed limit of 40mph then stick to it. if you get caught then hard luck. This country isnt funded for free. The goverment needs to find excuses to get more. Dont be silly enough to be fined. As that guy said on topgear. They list them , warn you of them and allow us to use GPS that have them listed. so if you get done ouy deserve it.

because they are nothing more than a means of screwing the motorist for straying above the speed limit, yes i agree with them outside schools where there needed but every couple of miles along a motorway with a copper sitting with a gatso inbetween them is a bit much

never said that. What I said was ~I dont do it through speed cameras. if I want to drive fast I do track days

I have a tomtom that alerts me anyway.

I am probably a lot lot older than most and dont need to get my kicks from cars. My clubs give me kicks that would give you brain damage !!

I dont think that the majority are completely against speed cameras or think that there should be a "drive as fast as you like all the time" mentality. But its the use that some, perhaps most camera get put to that the issue. The locations of some are in genuine black spots but others are sited with revenue in mind. In some case speed limits have been artificially reduced and a camera installed. Bring back the patrol cars. lets have a bit of sense.

Thought I heard that the government was going to change the way the SCAMERA partnerships work so that all funds will go to central government, but councils will be responsible for the upkeep of any cameras and will have to meet accident reduction targets. I can imagine that the cameras placed for revenue generation may suddenly start getting removed!

They have been shown to be too unreliable and inaccurate under certain conditions to be properly used as evidence for a prosecution.

I think that the other case for not liking speed cameras (apart from being placed as revenue generators in some cases) is that the government appear to have used them as a direct replacement for traffic officers.

This has had a detrimental affect on road maners / safety as all the emphisis is now on speeding, rather than other factors such as tailgating, lane hogging, lack of road tax etc, etc.

In the right places speed cameras are a good idea (such as at junctions), but placing them on straight pieces of road in NSL areas - what conclusions are people supposed to draw??????

I agree, how can anything that helps enforce the law be a bad thing? Certainly where I live, they are all placed in logical places and improve safety and many people are campaigning for more
I am one such advocate of more cameras and more traffic police to be funded by more cameras

Angels, it's sounds like you are starting to believe the propaganda ie speed kills

by all means convict people for inappropriate speed (which is not necessarily speeding), I would rather see people educated on how to drive properly and with consideration rather than being hammered for being outside the 10% + 2!!
