Income Tax Office Fraud Scam
Our HR dept sent this;
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) (the people who collect the taxes etc we pay on our salaries) have made us aware that there are a number of scams
happening at the moment - in particular we have been informed of an email scam which is aimed at persuading people to complete a form with their bank
details on the pretext of receiving a tax rebate directly to individuals bank accounts.
The email looks legitimate & even the return email address contains the name "HMRC". However, its not legitimate & is just another way of obtaining personal data, probably for fraudulent use.
If your receive an email like this ignore it.
Anyone genuinely due a tax rebate would be informed, in writing to a home address, not an email address.
