Can anyone shed some light on this for me please,
Is there, and if so what, is the maximum file size for a SINGLE file on win98/winme/win2k etc.....
am sure i read 2gb somewhere, but buggered if i can find it now.

I think you will find it's more like 4gb (Minus 2 bytes if you wanna be exact!)for a single file size on a fat32 partition.If you run Win2k (Or any other OS that supports NTFS!) this limitation is removed as long as you format your hard disk using NTFS!

For some reason 60gb rings a bell for max file size in Win2k.
As for filesystem, many terabytes.
Its all due to the limitations of 32-bit and 64-bit addressing.

think ive managed to find some answers while troughing the net and looking at your replies.
fat16 = 2gb.
fat 32 = 4gb.
ntfs = unlimited (obviously depends on hd installed etc).
