Looking for some inspiration for a first time buyer
Hi all,
I am looking for some alternative locations to look at to buy my first property.
I don't really fancy south London (Clapham, Stockwell etc) and I doubt I am going to be able to find anywhere in a more desirable (to me) area of london for what I can afford.
The location either needs to be in zone 1,2,3 or be easily commutible to central london (no longer than 30 mins overland) with a realistic season ticket price.
My gut feeling is to look for an area that I want to live and can afford comfortably outside of central london instead of stretching for something to maximise return in an area that i could be stuck if negative equity hits or interest rates rise.
I would need to be able to get a decent 2 bed flat for arround the £250k mark
I am living in Berkhamsted at the moment and fancy a change, so far St Albans is looking promising but I do not know anywhere else further round the M25 that could be a better option?
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers all
Andy

Well I'm in Bushey and loving it. Bought last year, 2 double bed lease flat for £162.5k. There are opportunities to spend a lot more on 2 bed flats, some very nice gated flats and apartments. Bushey rail station is on the main line into Euston, Stanmore tube at the top of the Jubilee line is 10mins drive away.
