Exclamation Italian leather jacket scam

Watch out, just had one of these Italian conmen trying to give me 3 designer leather jackets worth £1200 if I gave him £300 for one worth £600 (so he could buy his wife a nice present), as he had to fly back to Gatwick and needed to avoid excess baggage. He was very convincing (Itialian passport, flight ticket, car rental form), but wasn't fooling me.

Article from a while back:
Edinburgh Evening News - Conmen target city in leather jackets scam

Anyone else come across these jokers?

This was in Havant, Hants - you have been warned!

I had the exact same thing in Sainsbury's car park, Stevenage, just before xmas.

He didn't take kindly to me telling him to **** off.

He was offering a £1000 jacket for £150, or 3 for £400........

Came across one in my home town in ireland the other day mate lol
Was walking down to the gym when italian guy pulls over in a rental and asks me directions to the airport .
then proceeds to tell me how he is in town for a show working for gucci , was given "present" of lovely leather jacket and a suit which unfort doesn't fit him and which he will give to me for the price of just the jacket !
Told him to take a hike !
a mate of mine told me a story once about a bloke he knew that bought a suede jacket off one of these guys , he went out that night wearing it ..
When he was leaving the pub it was pi$$ing rain , the jacket shrunk when it got wet and he couldn't get it off! lol
true story . . .

Of course this would only affect losers anyway, ie: people who wear leather jackets.

Brilliantly targeted scam really.

Apart from bikers, where there is a functional argument, leather jackets are just not cool these days.

And if anyone disagrees I challenge you to find me a cool or fashionable photo.

Yeah had one of them in a motorway service station a while back. Two well dressed guys in a new Punto giving it all the Italian thing. Told them to take a hike.

I'm very pleased with the speakers I bought off the guy and his Asian colleague 3 years ago in Liverpool Street, London after they said their boss had accidentally loaded one extra pair in the back.....

Well, not quite, but they were quite convincing and even had emboided tee shirts but the fact they'd done all their deliveries by lunch time and were in this major street but non residential area did kind of give 'em away....
