Default Duvet

I want some information on Duvet please. I have an single bed with an Eider down filled duvet. I am now getting a king size bed which will be delivered next month, so I will need a Duvet for it and I would like to know how it compares to say Siberian Goose which has a TOG rating of 10.5.
Can you still get Eider down duvets?

A little story for you all. When my mum went camping with her parents, they all had eider down sleeping bags and one night it snowed which come the morning they did not know as they where loverly an warm in their good quality sleeping bags. The other campers around them said did you get cold in the night, they said no, we've got good quality filled sleeping bags.

Hence why I have got a eider down duvet.

You can get Eider down filled duvets, yes.... BUT.... (sit down)....

A very good goose down (Hungarian is probably the best) duvet, King Size, will probably cost about £250.

An Eider down filled duvet of a similar size will cost you 10 times that - yes, about £2500....

Whilst goose down is easy to get, grab goose, pull feathers out, fluffy stuff close to the skin is the down.... Eider down is a bit trickier - as it's 'harvested' from the nests of the Eider duck, a little at a time. Very labour intensive....

So - yes - you can still get them. Question is, can you afford one?

Personally I prefer two singles on a double bed than one double, then you could budget and get them as and when

When it's stiff enough to lean it up against the wall, wash it.

Got a goose down duvet from here: welcome to the direct bedding co.

Very good prices and quick delivery. It lovely, very light and warm, moulds itself around you when you're in bed.

They do a kingsize Eiderdown for £1850

I've just bought two Kingsize duvets, (well, last year), from Dunelm.

I got their own brand FIFTEEN Tog ones, made up of snap together 10.5 and 4.5 Tog quilts.

So far, here in the UK, I've only ever used the 10.5 part, but over at the French house last year, the heating broke down in a VERY cold february, so we had BOTH parts of the quilt on, and it was lovely.

Paid less than £30 each, they are Hollowfibre filled, and in polycotton covers, none of that cheapo "teabag" stuff
