Default Fixed width or Full Screen?

For those that have been having trouble with fixed width, goto Control Panel, edit options, and scroll right down for "full screen"

to the mods.

Took me ages to find the instructions though. It was like one of those clues in

So it wasnt just me who thought webbys post was confusing?

I had already found it and changed to full width this morning (thank god) I have a couple of websites in fixed width and it works well, but it definetly doesnt work for forums!

Serious question. What is the advantage of the fixed (narrow) width for the viewer?

Anyone use tabbed browsing on Firefox? as soon as I click the middle button to open another thread in a new tab the whole page reloads again? quite annoying.

Having just swapped from fixed to w i d e s c r e e n, I think it might be similar to the effect of newspaper columns, the same reason they don't have full-width newspapers. Easier to read short contributions? (You'd still need a widescreen toggle for moses' contributions though...)

I thought narrow width newspapers were so that truckers could read The Sun balanced on top of the steering wheel whilst munching on a Big Mac cruising down the M1...... The T e l e g r a p h just wouldn't look right

Ever notice that airlines that offer free papers always offer a broadsheet...must be some sick joke on the managments part to make sure you elbow the arm of the person sitting next to you and whack their jaw with your fist when you open the paper out

Anyhoo, widescreen, ahh thats better.
