Default Personal Property Valuations for IHT reasons

Hi All

As some of you know my mum died recently and we now have to get the personal property valued, I have organised 3 Estate Agents to value the property itself so that's not a problem but as for the personal property how on earth do you go about doing that there is Jewllery but that has already been valued for insurance purposes , but there are things like a Fender Guitar and a Trombone , and just general stuff like sofa , tv's the lot has anyone got any ideas on all of the above .

Has any of valuable items been listed any where, or noted on the will? if not, you might be aswell hand them out to relatives to save on the hassle for valuation etc

You could probably do what they do for things like bankruptcy - generally they aren't interested in anything unless it's a high value item like a £20,000 painting. Furniture, personal effects etc aren't really worth anything 2nd hand.
