Ok read the article in the NYT now- it is a bit C5 ish, and too heavy at present but with lightweight materials (carbon fibre?) it might be a proposition. Can you carry stuff on it eg shopping etc or would that wreck the gyroscopic control?
Useful on supertankers, for hospital porters and posties, but, like an umbrella, I worry it 'd be a pain in the **** when you weren't actually using the thing.
