Default Best Kitchen Appliance make?

In a few weeks (hopefully) the paperwork for my 1st house will be completed.

The vender is taking everything (If she could get the carpet in the bedroom up she'd take that too)

This of course means I need to buy everything. First room is the kitchen, started looking at ovens, microwaves, fridge/freezer, etc but theres so many manufacturers out there I have no idea who to go for.

I don't have loads of money to spend, but dont want to get cheap crap stuff.

What do people recommend?

Bosch for me, quality manufacturer and decent prices, Miele appliances are excellent as well if a little expensive.

If any of the appliences are "built in" then I'd get cheaper brands like CDA and with the money you saved get:

Bosch
Miele
Neff
Smeg
AEG
Siemens

Overpriced, whilst they are the No 1 brand in New Zealand they have a long way to go in the Uk to get their infrastructure of dealers and servicing in place.

Bosch / Siemens
Miele

That would be it for me.

Actually just re-read his initial request.

Microwave - Panasonic, easily the best.

Fridge/Freezer - Koreans and Japanese have the best refrigeration technology, might not be a trendy choice but I'd go for Samsung.

Dishwasher - stand by my suggestion of Fisher and Paykel.

Kitchenaid probably make some of the best small appliances.

Don't really know about ovens and cooking tops.

zanussi was a hassle for me. Had difficulty getting parts for my zanussi washing machine as the pump kept failing, but maybe it was just that model. But if your brother in law says zanussi is the best I would belive him as he works with appliances.

Bosch, Neff, Siemens are all the same manufacturer - and quality goes up in that order (Bosch at the lower end, Siemens at the top). I've got Neff fridge/freezer and dishwasher (which is very similar to the Bosch I had before, but certainly has more features/functions).

Whilst looking at ovens and hobs, as I wanted pyro cleaning with touch controls - there wasn't much option in the normal B/N/S stuff - had De Dietrich equipment highly recommended to me.

So - in the end I went with De Dietrich hob (gas on glass with touch controls), and De Dietrich oven (pyro clean, touch controls, stainless, etc.). More expensive than the B/N/S stuff, but at least as good quality and better choice (they have about 6 different pyro ovens - B/N/S have one each!)

...and, as has been said, a Panasonic microwave!

I recently decked my kitched out with CDA stuff. It's quite a lot cheaper than most other makes but they look the business! No idea on reliability yet but they have a guarentee and to be honest at the price if anything breaks down a year from now I'll just replace it (throw away society!). I can't stress how good the gear looks - the only way you can tell its not Neff is the 'feel' of the **** when you turn then....like closing a Golf door vs a Peugeot. Very happy though

I got a built in 50:50 fridge, built in Oven, flush 4-way electric glass hob, stainless steel sink, full sized built in dishwasher, a curved glass stainless steel extractor, a stainless steel mixer tap and some filters for £1385 delivered

My dad has run his own kitchen company for 25 years and he sells alot of Neff appliances. It's good quality and not too expensive either. They have a massive range too.

If your wanting top end stuff then i'd go Miele all the way. It's very good quality but most of all it's extremly easy to use. We have it at home and i can highly recommend it

Been in the trade most of my life and can honestly say theres nothing that comes close to Miele, if your not after spending quite so much then go for Siemens or Bosch, Neff (or Naff as it's known in the trade) have too many problems with door hinges, fan motors and fan elements going on the ovens.

Stick with German and you'll not go far wrong

Miele.... trades of its old reputation. No way as good as it was..

Zanussi can be real good stuff for the money. Smeg is cheap made designer wannabe syuff now

I am not in the trade, so have no vested interest in certain brands or have been only used to dealing with limited choice.

But I know my shtt !!

Miele, we bought a washer, 10 yr guarantee, seven hundred quid but I see it as trouble free, manufacturer covered washing for 70 quid a year, when the washer breaks down it costs in mountains of washing, getting a repair man out or sorting another, I reckon, in the long run its cheaper, if it works for over ten years, every day after that is free.

I actually bought a Whirlpool washing machine. Looked good (didnt know anything about them at the time) with digital display and lots of settings for app. 400 quid!!! Ive had 5 years trouble free out of that and apart from the looks I had stumbled on a A rated machine.

If I were to do my kitchen again I wouldnt go for the expensive stuff as a friend of mine has had his kitchen done by MFI for about 4k, he got the package deal on appliances (cant remember exactly but around 1 grand for hob, oven, extractor, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and all A rated!

They look really smart (stainless), they seem really good quality (oven is fan assist aswell) and unless mine last double his Ive made the wrong decision.
