I pruchased some electrical equipment from a catalouge company which was faulty.

I asked for a refund, it was given then weeks later given again.

So I have been refunded twice.

They sent me a letter a couple of weeks back stating that they have refunded me twice but did not ask for payment.

I have checked that they have not added it to 'my account' (I payed with a CC) on the website, the balance is £0.00.

So where do I stand? Should I just keep quiet and see what happends? This will serve them right as it took me ages on the phone and faxes just for them to refund me.

If the balance on your account remains at 0 then what else can you do. Just monitor your account over the next couple of weeks.

Don't pay them a penny if you don't need to, they rip plenty of people of with these over inflated prices as it is.

He's right though, why should you go out of your way to give back money to the company if they havn't asked for it.

I haven't seen the letter he got that apparently says we've refunded you twice. They can't charge him again on his credit card - that would be illegal.

Maybe the next letter he'll get will be a court summons for theft !

And besides - when has honesty become a crime .

Whilst it may be a tempting to withold this money I would advise you pay it back. I am not a 'jobsworth' BTW. The double refund will be a mistake made by one of the employees of said company. This indiscretion may result in someone losing their job.
