I am looking to get a different car and was wondering if any one has driven one of these .
The model i was going for is the 3.0 litre model , is this quick ? (obviously not as quick as the scoob).
I like the look's of it, but what are they like for back legroom and what is the build quality like , does it compare to the scooby's reliabilty ?
Thanks
nick.

We have a 1997 Pug 406 3.0V6 saloon which has the same engine, wheels/tyres, 10% softer springs and no Brembos. I have driven the coupe and it is quite similar apart from the brakes. We chose the saloon because they are half the price of the coupe used and at £7000 with 34000 miles and all the toys inc leather we went for it. 0-60 just under 7, 0-100 19 (Scoob is just under 15). So not bad, no turbo lag. Very smooth engine. Not as good economy as BMW. In one survey same number of warranty claims on same age used vehicles as BMW and Subaru. Superficial build quality is much better than the scoob and you actually get sound-proofing and bolt together interior.
Not bad for what it does, but just too soft IMHO, but the ride is as comfortable as any car I have ever been in, even with lower (55) profile tyres and 16s.

Ive not drven one but a mate at work has one which I have been in and I can comment that the rear legroom is v good and can comfortably accomodate 2/3 adults. Boot is not as big as scoob saloon though

I owned an Auto model (99 T)
Beautiful car and if your jolly is usually quietly along the motorway very nice indeed.
Around town as soon as you do anything other than tickle the throttle it drinks the old juice (15mpg was seen often!!)
Loads of room but not for a third rear passenger as no seat for them. Stereo is excellent as standard and enough comforts to keep anyone happy. Saloons are much cheaper but ewhere is the class. On one hand you have one of the most gorgeous looking motors ever made on the other a gas guzzling repmobile. 20,000 mile service interval so that side of things is not so bad. Very very quiet at speed on M-way. Build quality is well below BMW/Merc but so is the price!

I jsut brought a 406 coupe 3 weeks ago. I went for a 3.0 SE auto in the end, ideally was
after a 2.0, but heard they were a bit under powered and the 3.0 was the exact spec i
wanted so i thought '**** it' and got it!
So far i'm still getting used to the size of the car, it's a bit bigger than a Saxo!
Comfort wise it is great, plenty of leg room front and back.
With it being a new car to me i've been giving it some really, so i can't really comment
on fuel consumption apart from to say it drinks a lot mroe than the Saxo!
It is reasonably fast, i live in london so there's not that much space to dirve safely
at speed, on private roads officer!
I went for a quick spin up the M1 and a few A roads and it was very nice to drive.
Being an auto it's obviously sloower than a manual, but the sport mode on the gearbox
does help dramatically.
It's a stunning looking car one of the best looknig i think. had a few dodgy looks
though as i only look about 18 so i'm just waiting to be pulled for driving 'your
dads' car by the plod
