Any boaty types?
I've now covered surfing, exercise loons and now boats.
Anyone into them at all?
Got a little 17ft dinghy but rather lucky to have relatives with lots of boats.
So have regular access to a Nimbus 320 Coupe (motor cruiser - Very nicely finished), a Boston Whaler Montawk 17ft with a 90 (for waterskiing and wakeboarding) and I'm now doing some PR for the inlaws almost ready Fisher 46, a 46ft motorsailor ready in about a month and due to be reintroduced into production (FIL has bought the moulds and rights to it)
Ours:
Nimbus:
Boston Whaler:
Fisher

Sailed on a Fisher out of Vann, Western Brittany. Sailed on a number of other boats cross channel, used to be a member of the ICC. All a bit hair shirt for me these days, if I go again, it'll be in the Carribean or Greek islands!

This is the first 46 footer for 15 years. Most are 25-37ft.

We've got a 24ft Shark, which was purchased a few months ago so we've not had the chance to get her in the water yet. There's a few pictures on this thread.
I've only been out twice, second time being as crew on a C&C 41 where we raced and won our fleet at the 2006 Levels Regatta. Rose however is slightly more experienced having sailed for many years and she's also raced sharks and crewed/raced on a variety of other boats. Does seem like it'll be something fun to do, even if it's just sailing over to the Toronto Islands for the day.

Olly - What did you think of it?
They make a 32ft so it's likely to be one of those.
Some guy in the Middle East is currently making a one off 90ft one out of wood!

Olly - They're after a mile muncher.
The engine will top it up to 10 knots (fully variable prop so sails and engine work together) and it's pretty bomb proof (25 tonnes!) so nice and safe.
The selling point was a guy that owns one who "sailed around the World in his slippers!"

Did a bit of sailing in the early eighties, mostly on the Halcyon, an 80' Bermudan Ketch. Got my RYA Yachtmaster as a result.
Spent most of the 90s driving big RIBs in the Channel, but that really took its toll on my back.
Back on dry land now, thank god!
Fishers always struck me as the sort of boat you'd be happy to take a slow passage around the world in.

Ive got a little Bombard Aerotec 380 with a 30hp on the back. Its a seriously fun bit of kit-the boat weighs less than the engine!!!(engine is only 50 KG's)does 30+ knots, pulls skiers, kneeboarders, ringo's.Theyre also great fun in the surf/shallow water as theyre so nimble. You can take it anywhere easily by yourself,if i dont want to put it on the trailer it can be rolled up into its bag and put on the back seat of the car, engine in the boot-in a scoob(not a wagon version)!!!
It can be inflated and ready to go in 15 mins.
My other toys are a 12meter Mersey class lifeboat and a D class inshore boat of which i am a crewmember on for the RNLI.
You cant beat the feeling of being at sea-if youre 50 yards or 50 miles out all your problems seem to be left on shore when you're out there.
Gary.
