Default Designer Kettle, where, what...

I'm after a new (unique?) kettle for the kitchen. Found a few, but they all seem of similar design. After something fancy, black, chrome, or brushed stainless.

I quite like the milk jug style ones, like the Kenwood Eon/Siemens Porsche, but the wifey likes the clear/see through ones.

Anyone recommend one, or got some good links?

I'm thinking about getting some Alessi Scales, but i don't like the kettles.

Runners are:

Prestige 50526
Kenwood SJ480
Dualit
Siemens Porsche
Kenwood EON SJ980

(All three above had some bad reviews though )

Would like something different/stylish like this:
Quirky Kettle - Design Show

Anyone got any links of companies that may stock something different?

Style over substance...

Just can't see the point in an expensive kettle that won't do any more than a cheaper one.

Yes a little. (Although some of those listed are around £25-35, not expensive in my mind) - Agreed, the siemens one seems pricey!

But we have all new appliances, and our grey/biege kettle just doesn't fit with the others. Simple as that.

Fair enough -It was an unfair dig but you can get decent chrome ones that work fine and cost about £20.

I'd only spend a bit more on a stove top one.

Nice.

Would be better for me if it didn't have the wooden handle though.

I wouldn't pay high prices for a kettle, at the end of the day it only boils water

I've got these, paid £30 as a set in BHS

Got the Brita filter one, not sure if it makes the tea/coffee taste any better but at least it gives me a chuckle watching the parents/in-laws trying to figure out how to fill and filter it
Also got a Le Crueset one for on top of the range cooker, don't think we've ever used it, so more of an ornament than anything else.

John.

Got ours from John Lewis - Siemans Porsche - It's the bollocks, can get the matching toaster as well - Just don't turn it upside down and shake it to get the crumbs out (it has a pull out drawer) (Had to chastise the housekeeper for breaking our first one that way !!)

By the way - it is more expensive but the finish / detail is where it wins : these £20 / £30 jobs cost that for a reason.

I got a Breville Spectra (mine is the White Illuminated on page 2).

Various models, but they glow all kinds of colours whilst boiling, keeping warm or simply on standby

We actually have the Siemens Porsche kettle. The first one packed in after three years and then we got the Mark II.

It is good - cool touch as well which is great if you have kids.

Like the S/Steel one of that. Our kitchen has red brushes steel splashback, so red is great. Plus the blender glows blue, so will match. Nice!
