Default Orange SPV-M3100 thoughts please?

My N70 is due for an upgrade soon and i'm thinking about the SPV-M3100, but i'm having difficulty gettings peoples views on it.

I tried viewing it in the Orange shop, but they never had one available without breaking into a new sealed unit.

Anyone got one and how do they rate it? Judging by what i HAVE seen so far, it looks like a similar layout to the N70. This true?

Just to add, as an existing Orange customer for circa 5 years, a NEW customer will get a better deal on the M3100, than me. £35 a month(18 month contract) and it costs them £49.99 for the handset. Myself=£35 a month(again 18 month contract), yet it costs me £149.99 for the handset!!!

I have an SPV 3100.

They are excellent if a little fragile. My first was replaced under warranty. My second started to crash when the phone rang! This was due to added software and I am currently trying to optimise my loadset.

There will certainly be a firmware upgrade soon to fix this.

Overall i have found it an excellent phone and even though I have a Mac I can sync contacts and calender. It works very well.

Added software such as Excel and Powerpoint are far better than Symbian equivalents. The keyboard is also excellent.

In terms of contract - I have 900mins, 200 texts, 5mb for £45 per month AND I got the handset for free. I have been an Orange customer for seven years. I got the handset in August when they were not available as an upgrade by phoning up and making a good argument.

Thanks for that David.

Not worries about the fragile bit, as the last phone i had that i didn't find fragile was probably 5 years ago.

Always a bit unsure of adding programs to phones too, as i've had a problem with a phone, every time i've done that.

You had these types of phones before? Does it compare well to them and is web browsing fairly quick for such a small processor?

Web browser is excellent. It also has HSDPA and in London I had over 1mb download speed. It was very quick.

The connectivity is fantastic. At home I have wireless and that is how I use the mobile for email and web. It is realisitic to use it instead of a laptop if you are away for a few days and don't have the space to pack the lappy.

Adding software is very easy AND there is a fantastic forum giving guidance and just about anything you would want guidance on.

Forum

Go to the Hermes forum where this phone is covered.
