Default Tracing a number

Every day I come home and have about six messages on my answerphone, and it's always what sounds like a fax machine bleeping.

For the first time today, rather than displaying 'International Out Of Area' it actually showed a number for 2 of the calls.

The numbers are:

0114 2230490
0114 2230494

Does anyone know of a way I can find out who owns these numbers?

This has been driving me mad for over a year now and I'd love to contact the company in question and ask them to stop leaving me beeping messages.

I tried Googling both numbers but could only find one link, apears to be dutch - any dutch speakers in the house?

Cheers

Hanley

You could always try faxing them back, if they are fax machines.

They're complaining of the same thing happening to them.
some of them have called the numbers and have found them to be from Holland.
The one called went back to a answer machine from the Dutch KPN (I think this is something like their directory enquiries)
Welkom bij KPN
I think the last post on that forum states that they're just random numbers that check if you answer or your number are used. For what reason I don't know. I can't make out the last sentence but it's something to do with :after that they can use the number to "smeren" which translates to "smear over the telephone?????

Best bet is to call BT and explain to them whats going on. They will be able to bar the number if thats what you want.
