Have any blokes on here with a beer gut got it without drinking much beer?
As per title really. Can you get a beer gut without being a beer monster?

Nice and slim here but there was a stage I picked up a gut, the majority of it came from drinking water though. doing about 4 litres a day and I piled the weight on. Stopped drinking it and drinking as much lager as ever and lost the weight again

its just the area us guys put the weight on, so if your metabalism slows down with age etc then thats where you will gain a few pounds! it has nothing to do with drinking beer!

High carb foods combined with no exercise and a slow metabolism can do this. Some people still retain fairly normal sized legs and arms giving the impression of a 'beer' belly.
It is mainly bread and rice soaking up and retaining fluids and is very easy to get rid of by changing to a high protein diet, no bread, rice or potatoes and a good bit of cardio exercise.

Do all those Ethiopians drink beer then? 
I think it's more to do with the individual. Some are susceptible to developing a paunch - I have, and I don't drink gallons. Though in my case it isn't helped by my late night meals of baltis and kebabs!

It's not just the usual middle age spread i'm talking about - it's the "pregnant" look that some blokes must assume make them look highly desirable. Surely that's a result of too much propping up of the bar?

Whilst I do enjoy the occasional grolsch I have got myself a little tummy, but I blame it on the fact that to a knackered knee has stopped me from playing the sports I used to play (regular tennis, golf etc). I even struggle on walks of more than a mile unless it's heavily strapped up.
Operation number 5 in the new year should sort it

Used to be a professional cagefighter and Thai kick boxer, since I've stopped that it's been hard to keep the weight down. Need to watch the carbs,

Yeah that's true POC, it's just i've always wondered whether it's just too many calories full stop or whether beer calories had a stronger effect in producing the nine months pregnant look.

what a great thread, if i want a bear bellied monster i know where to look
on a serious not, where do women get their beer bellies? do they get them below the waistband on jeans as opposed to men that seem to grow them above the waist? some men can look really slim from behind than when they turn round they look huge, whereas women with a big gut just look fat
