BBC condemns Clarkson 'gay' jibe
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | BBC condemns Clarkson 'gay' jibe
"Derogatory references to homosexuality made by Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson had the potential to offend and should not have been broadcast, the BBC has ruled."
Yes, those politically correct BBC bosses are still sniping at Top Gear.
They want it to remain axed and are doing their best to see they have the ammunition to make it happen. TG is now officially anti gay
My belief is that even if it is allowed back for one more series, it will be the last one.

The BBC are going to either:
a - shut Top Gear down for ever, or...
b - see it go to Sky on a much smaller budget so nobody ever sees it again

They have a point. If he'd made a reference to a BMW M3 being a car driven by Asian rude boy chavs or a Range Rover with blacked out windows with been black drug dealers car then the complaint would have been the same. Just because he said an Impreza was a gay car I see no difference...... I presume he was talking about an Impreza?

Four complaints from viewers have been upheld after he agreed with an audience member that a car was "a bit gay", on a programme screened in the UK in July.

amazing this is news worthy... just another example of how the UK has gone politically correct crazy whist losing touch completely with the the mainstream populations every day issues.
I am sure Top Gear will be axed by the BBC under government pressure - it's just not in keeping with the political propaganda.

Because of the fact that it cost's **** all to make, and is sold for baodcast literally worldwide, the Top Gear programme is the BBC's biggest earner, by far. The rumours that the BBC would dram of canning it are bollox.
However, in the current political climate the BBC as a corporation cannot be seen to endorse the 'controversial' views of it's presenters, however much in tune with the general population those views may be, so they trot out the old 'we should not have broadcast it' line
Besides, they got more complaints when they torched the caravan site, so based on that it's the pikeys, the BBC should be wary of upsetting, not the chutney burrowers

There were only 4 complaints and probably not a single one was from an actual sausage jockey.
Idea :
how about if everyone here writes to the bbc about the fact that we all take offence with the way that the complaints were handled and further, that we don't want any of this PC boll0cks where the minority dictates what the majority can say or do. UB - suggest you put together a standard text for people to print, sign and send as you seem to have all the inside information about TG ?

Clarkson says some damned fool things sometimes, Ambulance comes off the track at the Nurburgring and as it passes he says ''can i have his spleen?''
However it's ok for comedy shows to poke fun at people being gay (only gay in the village) , but not for Clarkson to do something similar.
We used to have TV shows which poked fun at race too, Alf Garnet for example. A brilliant and comical show, would it be allowed on TV now? Would it hell.
Then you get the big brother style shows which have to have a couple of raving poofs and I mean it exactly that way........ they rave on and on and on about it. Could they have a quiet homo (or whatever i'm allowed to say?), no they have to have someone who flaunts the hell out of it .......
Blokes kissing blokes on TV, I don't want to see it, sorry.....there's enough room on sky for this sort of stuff, put it on there.
The world may be a changing place but lets not change it too much too quickly please ......
rant over

In public the beeb will say there'll be no more gay jibes.
In private, Clarskon will be told to carry on as normal.
Viewing figures is what's important and the beeb do NOT want to lose Clarkson & co to another channel.
Problem is, the beeb is subjet to public financing so are answerable to politicians etc. and their petty agendas so they have to be 'seen' to be doing something about complaints etc.
Like him or not, Clarkson says what he thinks and doesn't care. Agree with him or not, it's what's refreshing in this silly little world of ours so long may it continue.

Ironically, however, all Robin's post has done is give further publicity to something that wasn't newsworthy in the first place.
So in trying to achieve his own somewhat petty ends, he has actually promoted the very subject he hoped to ridicule.
A bit like posting "PSLewis is an annoying **** who should be kicked off the board - discuss" type threads

Four complaints from viewers have been upheld after he agreed with an audience member that a car was "a bit gay", on a programme screened in the UK in July.
The presenter also described the vehicle as "very ginger beer", taken to be rhyming slang for the term "queer".
Excuse-fecking-me
Four people, and I'm guessing not even one of them was homosexual, complain about so called derrogatory terms of the above callibre and this is the reaction?????
I hope our licence fees aren't being used to subsidise this kind of absolute nonsense!!!
Absolutely disgraceful!!!!
