56k modems - tech question
Hello - I have been given an old laptop for my paresnts to play on
now it doesnt have a RJ11 (usual 56k modem connection I believe) but it does have a USB port
on the hardware section of the control panel it does say it had a 56k modem ?
1 - is it possible that the USB port will be the 56k modem connection
2 - if not - how do I connect to internet (not broadband) can you get external 56k modems to plug into USB port - or will it need a 56k modem fitting inside ?
sorry if this is basic - but I am your Mr average when it comes to computers and never had a laptop
thanks
David

The PCMCIA card might still be there, just might not have the lead for it
Otherwise it may have an exclamation mark against the device saying it isnt present
