ok chaps......are u sitting comfortably cos u should prepare for a long message !!

we dont seem to be getting very far with a team nite for STi to finally start praccying as a team so we can maybe play a few friendly matches with other clans.

generally turnout at our BW sessions has been poor over the past several weeks........with as few as 3/4 of us on a couple of occasions

am i booking the wrong nites ? wrong times ? (i am restricted as to when i can book BW slots but we now have mikes / orbs to)

all too often people simply dont post if they can / cant attend or say they can and then fail to arrive ?

Why ? cant be bothered to play or is it people just getting to busy with real-world stuff ? work / kids / other ½ etc for us to be able to plan anything in a better way than we are now ?

so i am proposing that on the above date we have a definite STi team nite on Mikes server, cos i was unavailable last sat nite at midnight to book a BW server as i usually do for sunday evening. Can have one b4 this is enough interest and availability !!

if no one wants to try to play better as a team / or is interested in playing other clans then say so..............

and we'll carry on as now with BW and the odd times a few of us actually find each other online at the same time !

i'm interested in comments on the format of the team nite - i had a quick think along the lines of :

FF on
Play as both T then CT on same map.....usual clan thing so i'm told !
Certain maps excluded from clan games in general (finding out which ones but includes the great and godlike 747 )
Must have voice working for communication / planning
As we get better designate roles and base them according to the map being played...ie some maps need snipers or shotguns peeps ?
Split HPB / LPB evenly across teams to try to even affects of ping/lag.
Hope to be able to play non-standard maps if mike can organise.
Normal day / time / length and frequency of team nites, assuming we want them?
Looking for a minimum 8 of us per nite to attend to make it worthwhile......clan matches seem to be 6v6 or 8v8 ?

Dont forget Sunday night is Loads of Lag night for us 56k ers!!!!

What we need is equal sides with one person being the boss of the sides. Rotate boss man every 20 mins to let everyone have a go. Everybody must communicate e.g. throwing flash, enermy spotted, rush, head for tunnel, sniper etc.

Clan games are based on winning the games not your personal kills therefore

Terrorists, If they all stick together can usually get to one bomb site.

CT, to cover 2 sites have to split up or run round in a group which is easily avoided till the bomb is placed.

If its a fixed date, time I will try and give u a confirmation of attendance.

In principle definately up for it. That particular evening maybe a little tricky. The wife starts a new job the next day so she may not like me "Buggering off upstairs to play C/S again" (direct quote )

Are we talking the public server here so that [STi] can play the great unwashed or 2 teams of about 4/5 (ie. 9/10 total) on the private ?

I don't think that with the majority of us actually being usefully employed we'll ever get the regular tonight when theres only 10 or so regular players. Other halfs / work and children getting in the way. Now if we were all 16 or students it would be different matter

Would love to try a "proper" match - Maybe =TAG= need some extras occasionally

Yeah running round like wing nuts, waste of time. Not realistic, will get murdered if we play an organised side.

For example on a couple of team nights I have been discussing things openly and some tool has come and shot me. WTF is that about? We are supposed to be a team fostering a common understanding.

Just had an idea. If I can get my lot on at the same time, thats 4 of us how about the Applicatorrrr's taking on a [STi] team. Using the 2 locked servers we have available we could have say 20min sessions of winning team stays on.

Layout

2 teams of 4 on main server battling it out while another team of 4 wait on the smaller server greasing up their guns and tactics. If you had the same map rotation on each server we could all practice. If we did this say once a month people could plan ahead to sort out player availability. The rest of the month continue with the BW sessions. This way every body gets a go at working as a team and have a bloody good session

4 per team due to the amount of people you can have on the smaller server.

What do you think ?????

dont worry tiggs, we can play 747 on our team nites cos its a cracking map and one which encourages, infact requires co-operative team play if you are to win.....esp as CT's if the T's have any brains.

its just that 747, OilRig, Tundra and a few others are not usually played in proper matches.

hoping to see a few peeps tonite on mikes....last nite was v quiet.

I've been playing Rogue Spear for some time time now online, and since no-one I know plays i'd better have a go at CS I reckon, if you guys would welcome an addition then i'd love to join in!!

I have a copy of half life, but no CS (hint hint) just let me know how to set stuff up, and i'll be there....

if you have full copy of half-life then you need to download the mod version of HL.

you also need to patch HL to the lastest version....the above sites should have these patches as well.

the downloads are not small so i hope you a lpb with adsl or cable !!! else recent pc mags should have these files on their cover cd's.

is rogue spear any good online ? i have just bought Black Thorn...maybe we'll have to setup a game one day ?

Rogue Spear RULES online, i'm going to get Black Thorn as well...I never thought it would be playable over 56k but it is (honest)! (cant justify ADSL at the mo) I d/l patches and stuff at work, and burn rewritable CDs and take em home - thats the easiest way for me...

But the gameplay is fantastic - definitely set up a game sometime...

I'll configure my machine for CS, and let you know how I get on - oh and thanks!

so i thought CS was a step up! but just played quake3 with JT and the CS graphics are shockin!

I would love to play more, but it is difficult to find the time at the moment, especially week days when I get home late from work. The best times for me would be weekend, preferably around lunch times (or late morning/early afternoon)? This is usually when I can get some free time to play.

I appreciate all your help recently getting me setup as a newbie. I have played a few games on-line with you all and it is great fun (right up to the point of getting shot = 10 seconds in - I need more practice!).

So,

I can probably not play as often as others, but I think if I have a more reasonable time slot I should be able to make it more often. I can also "book" time off from the family (me, under the thumb? Never! ). Weekday evenings are not the best, as are Sunday evenings (need to have a chilled out session with the family before preparing for work).

What do ya say..?

Steve - I won't know if I can make this one, I'm not sure what time I'll be getting back from Chelmsford on Sunday. Hopefully I’ll be back in MK around 6-7pm. If that is the case then I’ll definitely join you guys.

It about time we start to work as a team – I think we should have half our sessions as they are – general kill’n’ups’ with the other half being for team practice. It would cater to all peeps then

The best days for CS are – Mon, Weds and Thurs- with Tues being a maybe.
Unfortunately I’m no longer able to practice on weekends as I’m fully booked up with other stuff for the next couple of months!

The 9th should be ok for me . The Mrs has said yes as long as I do it at home. Therefore all depends on the wonders of NTLworld and its 56K connection on a Sunday night .

Muddy, Adrock and Chris all on ADSL and cable said they will be on line once date time is organised .
