Seeing a Scooby (DBM Wagon) drive into a one of these car parks on the way to work this morning reminded me I meant to post this a while ago.

There is an NCP underground car park near me (Central London) that uses lifts and trolleys to take the cars underground and pack them in tightly. Tight enough that you have to pull your mirrors in and there is a long list of cars that won't fit at the entrance.

Anyway, to the point. On the way home, I have twice seen this car park with a large group of irate customers outside who can't get their cars. Why? Because the lift mechanism has failed. They were being told to come back the next day to collect their cars!!! I hope they weren't charged the full daily rate (for between 9 & 24hrs) of £23.50.

So only use these car parks if, firstly, you trust the guys that work there (you have to leave your keys behind), and secondly, that you are prepared for the possibility of not getting your car back that day. Both of these lift failures have happened in the last 6 months at the same car park.
