I had a claim on my car about 3 years ago and it put my insurance up so i said i wouldnt claim again to my self and only went for third party fire and theft on the van also because it was cheaper to insure because of my previous claim.

It's crap I know as the dent was not your fault but you took the chance that it wouldn't happen by taking out 3rd party so not much you can do but either pay to have it fixed or leave the dent there. Going 3rd party was a false economy clearly, however this doesn't help your predicament.

Is there any colour paint on your van? Are there any nearby cars with same paint and damage where they hit your van? Alternatively, ask neighbours if they saw anything.
