Age is no indicator of a coin's value. But you can get thousands for a relatively new coin, like an Edward VIII 3p bit as only a handful exist. 1951 penny is another one. Rarity is the key.
But a solid silver piece, in good nick, should be worth something. By definition, it's going to be rare today. A collector with a gap in his set would want it want badly, for sure. Ebay, or a specialist mag or shop?
