Does anybody know if there is there a loan company/bank etc that would offer a loan with the flexibility of allowing me to pay off a chunk of that loan part way through?
i.e. If was to borrow, say £10k, then in 3 months time have £5k in my back pocket, can I use this to pay off some of the loan to get the monthly payments down?
I've asked my bank and they said "no".

Go to this link and enter the details of the loan you want (how much, period of loan etc). This will bring up a list of the best rates. If you then click on the 'details' of the loan it will tell you about any early redemption penalties. A lot of them don't have any penalties.

Be careful with Northern Rock.

I entered my details for a loan I was considering taking out. When the documents arrived to sign the % had increased to over 10%.

I felt it was a bit sneaky the way they did it. Seemed they worked on the basis I would just sign without really looking.
