Yeah - bad news.
It was on the cards for a while - just wish they'd sold him abroad rather than to one of our biggest rivals.
Gutted.

So they still feel they have justify the money spent on Heskey?

As pointed out on Radio 5 this morning, Liverpools' "squad rotation" only rotated one player, Fowler. After he played and scored a hat trick, he was on the bench for the next game and they persisted with Heskey. Has he got shares or something?

Being a Liverpool fan, I'm gutted to see 'God' go as he has given us such good service and is quite obviously one of the best talents around. What with our style of play however the boss simply doesn't want him and he's got understandably disillusioned with the whole thing.

£11m seems a decent price considering his contract's only got 18 months left, but selling ammunition like that to one of our main title rivals seems like bad business. At least I feel he will be happy there and will get a more regular place as their team fits him better (also the wife's a Leeds fan so I know this will come back to haunt Liverpool and me!).

Walk on, Robbie

Joolz

PS. It will be good to see his return to Anfield. The Kop will show those disgusting Tottenham fans how to greet back a player who has given so much to the club, unlike the filth shown to Campbell.

As a blackburn fan I as really hoping fowler would come to us with his ties to souness
at least with us he'd get a game every week, and liverpool wouldnt be selling to a title rival.

Bah, as a Blackburn Rovers fan I'm gutted too, we appeared to be selling selling enough players to build up a wedge to spend on Fowler.

Tony Parkes (assistant manager) was even quoted yesterday as saying 'Theres no reason why we couldn't buy Fowler' but now he's gone to Dirty Leeds instead

Working in Leeds it's not going to be fun if Robbie starts banging them in for LUFC

Cool

Surprised they sold to Leeds really, considering other (less dominant) clubs would have been interested at that price??

jbryant - I support crystal palace and so am not that bothered about the Fowler issue BUT, I totally agree with you about the disgraceful treatment of Campbell at Spurs.

He gave alot to the club and you would think that the fans would realise and appreciate this, not pelt his team bus with bottles. IMHO they are fekkin idiots.

Reports on various sites today says that souness is 'away on business' god knows what that means but it doesnt sound commutable.

I still think if the board were prepared to pay 7mill for grabbi (who lets face it hasnt set the prem alight tho he does try damn hard) 8+3 mill on appearances for fowler sounds like a bargain to me!

on one of the websites soundess is quoted as saying we cant sign established prem players, we have to look for either those past there prime but with experience, or youngsters with none - both options are a gamble.

That doesnt fill me with a lot of confidence

Leeds, Leeds, Leeds.
So you gatherd that I'm a Leeds fan.
Up the whites etc etc....
The transfer of Robbie Fowler to Leeds has got the whole city talking about it and theres a feel good factor emaniating from the city (much like the feel good factor that was humming just after we last won the title).

Read a scary article in The Sun on monday about Robbie moving to Leeds and being replaced by Dwight Yorke - hope the second bit wasn't true as well!

Trezeguet would slot in nicely!

(Neil - come from a scouse family - surely you could tell from my accent! )

No chance on Dwight Yorke. Reason he's been mentioned apparently is that Redknapp is just beginning new contract talks and he uses the same agent. OK the agent was at Anfield so press make story up.
Derrrrr.

I'd take Phillips, or Fowler as a replacement

Wife's getting all excited bout having the Scouse kid on her team tho'

I'd take Kevin Philips too, to replace Fowler at Liverpool.

I'd love to see ratboy (as he's known by the toon army) go to Liverpool.

I'd like to take this opportunity to mention that Sunderland are SH1TE.

I would have prefered it that Fowler went abroad, but at the end of the day at least we got £11m for him (the price has not yet been confirmed though!).

We won't be signing Yorke, mark my words, but a certain West Ham forward may be heading our way

Tis a shame to see Fowler leave Liverpool. Mind you it has been on the cards for a while. If it weren't LUFC then it would have probably been Chelsea.

He may have only 18 months left on his contract, but £11m seems like an extremely good buy by Leeds.

Fowler, IMHO, is one of the most naturally gifted strikers in England, if not Europe. I'd have loved to see him come to the Claret and Blue army, especially after losing to SWFC in the fecking Worthington Cup.

Michelle,

Nice to see another Villa fan. I thought we were a dying breed.

Cheers,
Tom
