MEN !!!!
Could it be possible to please give me your views reguarding my current situation. After working a late shift and then a long day i returned home to find my partner lay on the sofa with a beer in his hand and the fire blasting. The house looked liked a war zone with toys, glasses cups all over the place and no dishes done
Am i asking too much for a little help round the house? We both work full time and he offers no help but to take our son to ruby and wash the car. Does any man on this earth clean up after himself or am i asking for miracles.

I'm guessing this is a predominantly male populated forum.....so you're onto a loser here methinks.
On the flipside....do you do enough to keep him interested enough to help?
Works both ways

Stop moaning, and just get on with it.

If he reads this thread (in a few pages time) he will end up doing even less, and he will have you bringing him his beer
He already has your son washing his car

He sounds like a lazy git
Tell him to get off his fat lazy **** and help you around the house. Tell him no bodily fluids will be shared until he does.
Works when my wife says that

You know what......
I run his bath, on occasions fetch his beer and like his mum and he still wants me to clean up after him.
Are there any good men left on this planet?

It's Catch 22. I find that when I do tidy up, it's generally not right, and my wife re-tidies everything, creating twice the workload. So it makes sense for me not to bother, and only half the energy be exerted doing the same task, by her in the first place.
However, this obviously doesn't satisfy her, and she'll moan about "my mess" (no pun intended) whilst totally ignoring the clothes, make-up, shoes etc that often get strewn across her side of the bedroom!!
I think the difference is that men don't moan about it. Would he be bothered if the tables were turned in your example? No-one likes to live in a pig sty, but there are priorities!
Best bet is to mention how tired you are and how you want the house tidy for the weekend or something, or rant and rave until he can't take it anymore! Or suggest he tidies up as he goes along, not leave stuff lying around..... Then he'll begrudgingly shift a few things around to keep you quiet
Or just hire a cleaner which is what I used to do in London!
