Default FAO of the great scoobynet 'illiterati'

"Hear's your chance to learn something hear, so listen up and here what I'm saying".

The phrase 'hear, hear' is often written 'here here' by what I presume are the sort of people who work collecting my rubbish, cleaning toilets etc.

ONE TIME ONLY

THE PHRASE IS 'HEAR HEAR' relating to hearing- that you do with your ears as opposed to any sort of geographical reference

Hear hear - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anyone who gets it wrong from now on is a gimp.

The steady decline of the education system and general standards, expectancies and the literacy standards as a whole, thus by default a poor grasp of the English language will soon be accepted as personal interpretation.

'I BROUGHT a new XXX'

FFS!!!!

It is 'I BOUGHT a new XXX'

I would like to tender 'lose' versus 'loose'. People who make this mistake deserve contempt.

The odd typo isn't something to be jumped on and I wouldn't seek to do that,we all make mistakes.
My point is that these dongrels actually have no idea what 'here here' actually means but use it anyway.

I'd like to add:

- the thick sods who say "sat" instead of "sitting" e.g. I was sat on the front row. No, you were SITTING on the front row or you sat on the front row.

- the same for "stood" and "standing" e.g. I were stood behind you. Grrrr.

- using "while" instead of "whilst" e.g. they were laughing while everyone else was crying. No, it's WHILST, you're not (all) dumb Americans!

- anyone who says "like" as an irrelevant word in a sentence should be whipped soundly, preferably until you can see bone protruding. e.g. I was, like, standing at the front - YOU EITHER WERE OR YOU WEREN'T!

- adding "you know" to sentences. **** off. If I know then you don't need to tell me. If I don't then don't claim I do!

I feel much happier now

Torpid, I must commend your public spiritedness in sharing your newfound knowledge. It's encouraging to see you've come so far since September when the humble apostrophe was enough to trip you up.

Clear typo or language mix up.

As has already been discussed I'm a polyglot so often get confused when I'm switching between languages. I'd be prepared to extend the same understanding to the rest of the multi-lingual scoobynet community.
