At the opposite end of the scale: 'Fairytale of New York' by The Pogues and Kirsty McColl.
I like 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' by Darlene Love too (its a Phil Spector song for those who dont know it).

I find that song, "Walking in the air..." a bit far gone....
It's always on a Toys'r'us advert too....
Oh and that Maria Carey one.....the only good bit about that is seeing all the girlies in their tiny red skirts spinning around, smashed out their fragile little minds....

I've always hated Macca's Xmas song (the one that goes "simply having a wonderful Christmas time") which was made with one of those little Casio organs we had in the 80's
My fave is Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas, which I always play in the car on the way home from work before the Xmas break.

I quite the instrumental one by Mike Oldfield, 'In Dulci Jubilo' or something.
However, my Christmas album isnt a Christmas one per se, just my tradition, I love the Stone ROses first album so much I cannot listen to it all year as it gets over played, so I just play it as my Christmas cd, its quite jangly with a few quasi religous lyrics so it kind of works, and its not pure cheese like most Christmas stuff, even the kids now think it's Christmas when it comes on.

Out of them all, that one is the best.

Its become so credible recently that its over-played and Im not mad about it any more. 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses is going the same way too.

I think all xmas songs of this ilk should be banned... Slade and that lot are bad enough, but that one by the Pogues is the most over hyped irish jig I have ever had the misfortune of tormenting my ears with!
I love christmas, especially my yuletide log on boxing day morning, but I despise the "traditional" xmas songs...
