Default Can I sell hedgehogs?

I have quite a large garden which seems to have a lot of hedgehogs rummaging around in it. I've been spending a lot of time with them and they seem very friendly, i have hand fed some, which made me think they could make a good pet. I wonder if there could be a market for them, I have quite a few now, anyone?

P.S. I can't see a problem with it, but you may find you're facing a somewhat limited market. I can't see small ***** of spikes reminiscent of "critters" being too high on anyones wish list?

I've spent a lot of time with the family recently, and have fed them too, but I'm not sure I could sell them.

Not sure that there's the market for hedgehogs - maybe there would have been in the 80's when they would have made a great bit of novelty tableware, for serving the cheese and pineapple on a stick.

I'd just stick to marketing smaller animals that can be trained to run behind the cooker to retrieve the dropped food before it smells.

Or I can get you a trained one for £30, I have to cover the training costs.

You'de be surprised. Guests have commented on how intelligent and friendly they seem, they even make a mewing noise when you touch them in certain places.

and some wildlife experts reckon they are vital to hedgehogs because they can't preen there coats, like a cat or dog does!
wild animals are best left alone for there own good
i can speak with some experience, my farther was a gamekeeper for 20years, and i grew with animals,
i reared and trained a fox, used to take out for walks just like any dog, that was at 14yrs old

The thing is, I believe they can be domesticated and it must be better for them than being flattened in the road.

harrrow please go to HogWatch
there is concern for numbers, and girlfriend has been logging sitings
hey, i don't like to see them flattened in the road mate,
but they will be best left alone , if you are concerned just make your garden a better eviroment for them, they will thrive and that can only be good, but don't keep feeding , artifically proping up ther food cycles, they should hibernating now

My dog, a jack russ type just loves hedgehogs.

He brought a friendly one in a few months ago but it was in several pieces once I pursuaded him to drop it!

The fleas he shared with it were a **** to kill!

It all depends what it is of hedgehog's that you are selling, and whether he's given you permission

I phoned up the local boot sale this morning, no live animals can be sold. So far I have one order, but from Scotland, difficult for me to transport.

How did you de-flea them?

My Alsation once went NEAR a hedgehog, and the b*gger was COVERED in fleas within seconds.

Took me ages to de-flea HIM, let alone the hedgehogs.

Anyone else ever been woken up by the noise of two hedgehogs bonking?
Not sure if it was the female enjoying herself, or the male in excruciating agony, but they didn't half make a racket

High-Cis Cypermethrin, it’s not something that’s easy to get hold of.

I went outside with a bat when my (then) girlfriend and I heard some dirty old bugger heavy breathing and grunting outside her window.

That was a couple of hedgehogs negotiating before doing the deed...

Noisy little sods, aren't they?

I love 'em, though. They live happily alongside the foxes and badgers in our garden
