Default Missing MOT Certificate

I might have lost my MOT certificate and my car Tax is due by the end of today.

Can I get an printout now they are on-line?

Or do I need to get the original garage to issue a new one.....??

Thought about that - Unfortunately tax runs out today and the car would have to be off the road until they send the new disc in the post, which I'm informed can take up to a week.

M8, some post offices have their system direct linked to the dvla where they just scan your log book or renewal form and you wont need any other paperwork... find one that has this system and that should see you sorted if there is no dvla office near you that would do it as whell.

Chance it mate, once you tax it online its as good as taxed and if you get pulled tell them the old tail, tax in post, you might get a caution for not displaying but at the end of the day its taxed from the beginning of the month and thats what you've paid for, just don't park in any town centres because them busy bees will slap a ticket on your windscreen regardless.

Been in contact with the Post Office - Apparently all offices that can issue Tax are connected and can check without the certificate.

Yup they just read the barcode off the reminder and ping!, it's done. No need for insurance documents, no need for MOT printout.

Question

I've just done this for my eldest, (after spending ALL FEKKIN MORNING searching for the little sod's insurance certificate

If they can do it WITHOUT the MoT certificate, why does the form still ask for it, and why did the PO lady look at it?
