Default Question about charging a car battery in-situ

Need to recharge my RS6, which has the battery in the boot (it won't fit in the engine bay )

The M5 has charge points in the engine bay despite also having the battery in the boot, but sadly the RS doesn't appear to have them.

So, do I need to remove the connectors to the battery terminals before charging to seperate it from the car, or can I just cllip right on to the big clips that connect the car to the battery terminals, and charge away?

thanks
Ed

I seem to remember someone saying that a booster unit can damage your enigine management system. or maybe that was if you disconnected the battery with engine running since there is no control for the alternator then and it is likely to overvolt and destroy the computerised bits.
