MP3 album recognition
Does anybody know of something like the CDDB lookup database, that will work for albums already ripped to MP3 ??
I have ripped a load of my CDs using MusicMatch, but labelled the tracks 01.mp3, 02.mp2, etc, and would now like to name them properly, but cant be arsed to go through hundreds of song titles to change them individually.
If there was some wau I could point my MP3 folder at a lookup database like the CDDB one it would save me so much work !

Use CDEX to rip your CDs to MP3s - has an automatic link to CDDB so will name your tracks anyway you want and stick the ID3 tag in as well. It can use just about any encoder you like as well.
I use the Xing MP3 encoder (x3enc) at highest quality variable bitrate (226Kbps I think) and it is extremely quick to encode.
Check this out for ID3 tag editing:

Thanks for the info Kevin.
Problem is, I have ripped 80+ CDs and did not use CDDB lookup service. I dont want to rip them again, so was wondering if I can connect to the CDDB database after ripping.
Latest Musicmatch 7 has a "deferred CDDB lookup" facility - will look to see if that will do the trick.

CDDB id is calculated from a hash algorithm using disk length and track lengths as inputs. If this info is maintained, there is no reason why you can't get the information - or at least a best guess stab at it.
My fear is that this info will be lost due to the silence culling and blank insertions that CD rippers / MPEG algorithms enforce.
I think that you will have to create a custom app help you with what you want to do.
Let me have a ponder, and I shall see if I can come up with anything.

Try this?
http://www.mp3machine.com/software/C...MP3_Collector/
"The ID3 tagger supports batch updating of both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags with data retrieved from the filename, existing tags or manual input. The tagger preview allows you to review the new tags before they are updated"

I have got hold of a copy of Musicmatch Jukebox 7 Plus and this is a feature:
What is Deferred CDDB Tagging?
If you're not connected to the Internet the CDDB service cannot add Tag information. Deferred CDDB Tagging remembers what you have recorded previously, and waits until you're connected to the Internet with MUSICMATCH Jukebox started. It will then add the missing Tag information for the tracks you've recorded while offline.
So you cant name files totally offline but if you have ripped a CD with MMJB not having an internet connection then it will remember and do the CDDB lookup after.
