New laws/guidelines on recruitment....
Just had a chat with a lady that runs a local recruitment agency, temp and permanent. We were taling about the new age discrimination rules - can't ask for d.o.b. etc. But she was also telling me that she can't, for example, say in an ad "3 years experience required" as that is discriminatory and can't say "would suit local person". All sounded a bit far fetched to me but she does run the place so should know what she is talking about
The best/funniest example she gave was a job for a packer at a local company. She had calls from all over the country and a guy in India phoned 4 times asking to be interviewed!
Seems a bit of a mess - anyone here caught up in this, in HR for example?

I heard similar tales, can't say things like "dynamic" either as this may imply that you want a younger person etc
I don't really think it's a mess, UK is just catching up with other countries. Aus/NZ have had it for ages and their are no problems.
Judgement is still done at the interview stage anyway.
