Electronic tags for air passengers - news.uk.msn.com

We were all issued with shiny new wheelie bins recently. It turns out that the council secretly fitted them with microchips so that the amount of waste you create can be monitored.
They claim there are no plans to charge people for waste removal based on quantity. Really? Why sneakily embed these chips in the bins in first place then?
We have also told that to remove or tamper these chips in any will result in prosecution based on damage to council property plus the cost of replacing the bin. What will be next??
This country is going downhill fast now the Stalinists know they can't be stopped.

Under the scheme, wearing a tag would be compulsory for every passenger entering an airport.
A unique signal would cross-reference information already recorded, such as a passenger's name and flight number.

If the latter then the first statement in my quote is incorrect. Can you imagine the queues at the terminal door if they tag you on entry!!
and if you do not check in then how will they know you are there???
the whole thing has more holes in it than a block of Leerdammer

If I understand it correctly, you'd get tagged when you check in. They'd issue a boarding card with an embedded chip and with your photo printed on the front and you'd be tracked from that point onwards as you progress through security control and to the departure gate. It wouldn't affect people dropping off friends/relatives and helping them with their luggage to check-in.
Sounds reasonable to me, if it helps security run more smoothly in the airports. After having to wait in line for 4 hours to check in for a flight to Europe, anything that helps is fine by me.
