Picture Loans worst advert on TV? ...ever
I really can't stand the Picture Loans television adverts.
The people in the adverts are in serious debt because they are stupid and they buy video cameras to video each other while they are on the phone to a loan company to get themselves in more debt with some ridiculously high interest rate consolidation loan.
Do you think the people that made the advert had any intelligence at all?
Or are people that take out consolidation loans so stupid that this is the only messaging that gets through to them?
does anyone really have friendly conversations With loan sales people??

Saw one this morning, dreadful. 
Showed the "perfect family" setting, lovely house etc etc then went on to say you can borrow £25k over 15 years for only £250 a month

These adverts REALLY annoy me.
People who are in debt should be helped and consolidating your loans is a good idea in some instances. However, you shouldn't then go on holiday, buy a video camera or all the other "happy" inane things that these adverts portray. You should save your money and pay off the debt as quickly as possible.
If you have to take out this kind of loan, is there no advice that goes along with it? There certainly should be ...

The loan ad that bothers me is the one where the guy is mowing his lawn with an old mower that goes up in a puff of smoke, next thing you see is him sat on £1k's worth of tractor mower on a postage stamp sized garden

A good mate of mine, sadly, suffers from a very bad case of "keeping up with the Jones' ". Him and his wife have recently just bought themselves a nice house BUT also taken out one of these consolidation loans so they have one monthly payment instead of credit card payments all over the place - good move I thought.... until.......
He comes back from holiday showing off his 3k watch and new rings for the mrs... ALL on credit cards they've just paid off
So one new expensive mortgage, one consolidation loan (which isn't for a small amount) and then they start loading up the CC's again

Buy now pay later generation, its the new labour way. Bloke at work was recently bragging how he has spent £41k on 3 cars in 6 weeks not to mention his £2100 luxury holiday.Its ok though because his house will be worth an extra £50k in 3 years so he will have made it back
In the meantime though he has just upped his repayments to over £600 a month.

I think they're great and never fail to wonder at the stupidity of people like those who need to use these type of companies. If they can exploit the weak and stupid why not?

If you put these adverts in the same context as something like smoking it's a bit like go on smoke 60 a day and everything will be fine just smoke 60 a day!
Something is keeping this economy afloat it all just doesn't seem right to me

Yes and No. Having lived through the last one, I was lucky enough to be in an industry that wasn't effected that much. My friends were though and they were not plebs, just normal working people who suddenly found there were no jobs and their mortage payments almost doubled.

I think it would be better if these people were not allowed to get themselves into that state in the first place, not all people can manage there money very well but the Credir Card & loan companies don't help.

the problem isnt just paying off the debt or clearing the overdraft, you need double to make it work.
say you have a 3k overdraft you clear, you still have bills comming out every month, so you need 6 k 3 to clear the od & 3 to cover your monthly outgoings.
amazing how many people slip up on that one!!

I have to admit to having one or more loans at a time on the go since I was 17, I'm now 37. Nearly always for cars.
I saw the light a few years back after a spell of ill health and stress.
As long as I continue to earn as much as I'm doing now for the next two years I will have paid off both my loans, and mortgage.
Totally debt free before I'm 40 and I have over £50k worth of investment due to mature at around 45. Once everything is paid off I should be able to save between £800 and £1k a month.
I also have a final salary pension that I can take at 59 or at a reduced rate from 50 onwards.
My brother in law is a few years younger than me and has just taken out a £200k mortgage over 30 years. He'll be paying until he's 64 unless he can pay it off sooner.
I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
By the time I'm 50 I want to be in a position to enjoy life and say goodbye to the stress of modern high paid jobs. Give me a beach, some surf and fresh air.
I really feel sorry for the people that have to use these companies, or maybe they are that stupid they dont care.
